After checking out our HHC products, look at all of our great Cannabis Products! So, what is HHC? Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) is one of 100+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa plant. It has gained popularity recently because of its unique psychotropic effects. HHC interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. However, it does not bond with the CB1 receptors as well as Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC. The result is an enjoyable relaxation that is clear-headed and energizing. Many cannabis connoisseurs report the euphoria of HHC is more intense than Delta 6a10a and H4CBD, but only about 80% of Delta 9 and Delta 10. Since HHC is the hydrogenated version of CBD, they share many of the same anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), analgesic (pain relieving), antiemetic (anti-nausea), orexigenic (appetite stimulant), and neuroprotective properties.

What is HHC?

HHC was discovered in 1940 by chemist Roger Adams when he exposed THC to a process called hydrogenation. He later patented this process in 1947. HHC is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in trace amounts within the cannabis sativa plant. It would waste a lot of cannabis plants to extract enough natural HHC to meet market needs. As a result, HHC is created by converting CBD using hydrogenation. In this process, CBD is converted into Delta 9 THC. Then the Delta 9 isolate is exposed to hydrogenation. During this process, the double carbon bond on the Delta 9 cyclohexyl ring is removed and replaced with two hydrogen atoms creating a hexahydrocannabinol ring. This process changes the molecular weight and makes it more stable. This means HHC doesn’t break down as quickly when exposed to UV light and has a longer shelf life.

How is HHC Made?

Making HHC starts by extracting CBD from the cannabis hemp plant. It is then distilled and turned into a Delta 9 THC isolate. After that, the isolate undergoes the process of hydrogenation. This proprietary process involves multiple steps and extensive training on specific pieces of equipment. HHC manufacturers just say that Delta 9 goes into their “chemical reactor” and out comes HHC. However, during this process, the double carbon bond is removed from the Delta 9 and replaced with two hydrogen atoms. The end product is a dark gold oil that must be refined and distilled before being added to HHC carts or HHC gummies.

HHC vs THC

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and HHC are both naturally occurring cannabinoids within the cannabis plant. They have a similar molecular structure. The difference is that THC has a double bond on its cyclohexyl ring and HHC has two hydrogen atoms. As a result of this change, HHC affects the body’s endocannabinoid system differently than THC. Both cannabinoids bind to the CB1 receptors, but THC bonds with these receptors much better than HHC. Most enthusiasts describe the feeling of THC as a strong euphoria with intense relaxation. HHC is said to be uplifting and energizing without the intense psychoactivity of THC. Even though they differ in effects these cannabinoids share similar therapeutic properties, such as pain relief, anti-inflammation, and reduced nausea.

HHC vs Delta 8

HHC is regularly compared to Delta 8 THC because they have similar psychoactive effects and therapeutic benefits. They both have very similar molecular structures with one big difference. Delta 8 THC has a double bond on the eighth carbon chain of its structure ring. HHC had the double bond removed and replaced with two hydrogen atoms through a process known as hydrogenation. Many cannabis enthusiasts report that the psychoactivity of Delta 8 is less intense and more uplifting than Delta 9. HHC is said to have a stronger effect than Delta 8, but not as intense as Delta 9 or Delta 10. Consumers prefer HHC before going to the gym or tackling a major project because they feel relaxed while staying clear-headed. Since both cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system’s CB1 receptors, they have similar therapeutic benefits, including pain relief and reducing anxiety.

What are HHC Gummies?

These delicious sweet, or sour, treats are gummies that have had HHC isolate added during production. Some gummies use only HHC, but most add other cannabinoids, such as CBD and CBG to enhance the effects. HHC gummies are available in a variety of flavors. They are pre-portioned for a consistent effect and ready to enjoy right out of the bag.

What are HHC Carts?

These vape cartridges and vape disposables are filled with HHC-infused oil. There are some HHC carts with just HHC, but many carts have this cannabinoid paired with others, such as THCB, Delta 8, CBD, and CBG. Terpenes are added to enhance flavor and boost therapeutic benefits. There are a variety of strains to choose from. Some popular ones include Cali Gas, Green Crack, and God’s Gift.

Does HHC Get You High?

Many people report a strong clear-headed cerebral euphoria that is uplifting and energizing. Depending on the amount of HHC consumed, some enthusiasts say the effects are stronger than Delta 8 THC but not as intense as Delta 9.

What is HHC Flower?

Many people enjoy the effects of HHC, but prefer to smoke joints or bongs. To meet this market need, entrepreneurs have infused CBD flower with HHC isolate. They use dense CBD flower and liberally apply a liquid HHC isolate, creating an exciting and mellower alternative to THC. This sticky and tasty flower uplifts and energizes while providing the satisfaction many consumers want.

What are The Effects of HHC?

The effects of HHC have been reported to be euphoric and energizing, but not as intense as Delta 9. Some report HHC to be uplifting, yet clear-headed giving them the ability to focus while staying relaxed. These friendlier properties might be appealing to people seeking a milder relaxation experience.

What are the Benefits of HHC?

Research is still limited on HHC. However, it is thought that because HHC interacts with the endocannabinoid system much like Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC it shares many of the same therapeutic benefits. These include anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), analgesic (pain relieving), antiemetic (anti-nausea), orexigenic (appetite stimulant), and neuroprotective properties.
