So, What is THCVA? Tetrahydrocannabivarin acid (THCVA) is a naturally occuring cannabinoid that makes up less than 1% of the entire dried cannabis plant. It is one of the first cannabinoids to develop on the young plant. As the plant is heated naturally by the environment and matures, the carboxylic acid drops off from THCVA and turns into THCV.

When inhaled or ingested, THCVA acts as an antagonist to the pathways that connect the body’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. This interaction means that THCVA doesn’t doesn’t produce a psychoactive effect. Instead, THCVA and THCV are more well known for their ability to suppress someone’s appetite.

Just like Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC, THCVA has been researched for its potential as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain relief). Yet, due to its unique abilities to regulate blood sugar, THCVA has also been researched for its anti-diabetic properties.

The CannaBuddy line of THCVA cannabis products includes disposable vapes sourced from industry leaders and tested using third-party labs. Check out the full selection of easy to use and portable products below.

What is THCVA?

Like many cannabinoids, Tetrahydrocannabivarin acid starts out as cannabigerovarinic acid (CBGVA). As the young plant grows and matures, CBGVA turns into THCVA which later converts into THCV through a process called decarboxylation. This cannabinoid is primarily found in the cannabis sativa plants, and was discovered in 1977 alongside CBGVA. Since then, it has been extensively studied in 2008 and 2020 where it was determined that THCV and THCVA may be a strong appetite suppressant and pain reliever.

What are the Effects of THCVA?

The effects of THCVA have not been studied as extensively as the effects of THCV. Because THCVA is the precursor to THCV, it is believed to hold many of the same therapeutic effects. THCV has been researched for its pain relieving, anti-inflammation, anti-diabetic, anticonvulsant, and appetite suppressing potentials.

What are the Potential Benefits of THCVA?

THCVA shares many of the same potential benefits as THCV. These benefits include:

Neuroprotection: THCV has been shown to affect certain nerve cells in the brain and reduce the effects of diseases such as Parkinson’s. Other studies have shown that THCVA shares this same anticonvulsant property.

Weight Loss: After ingesting THCVA, many cannabis enthusiasts have reported a decreased appetite. As a result, they have noted significant weight loss.

Anti-diabetic: Several studies have shown that THCVA has the potential to help reduce blood sugar levels and reduce insulin resistance to counteract diabetes.

Appetite Suppressant: Cannabis consumers report a reduction in or completely suppressed appetite after consuming this “diet weed.” They find themselves wanting to eat less and feeling full for longer periods of time.

How to Use THCVA Products?

THCVA can be inhaled through a vape cartridge or disposable vape. It is also available as tinctures, capsules, and gummies in a variety of flavors.

Different Types of THCVA Products?

Typically vape cartridges and disposable vape cartridges are the easiest THCVA products to find with THCVA gummies following in a close second. There are also tinctures, capsules, and topicals.

What is the Difference Between THCVA, THCV, and THC?

THC: Tetrahydrocannabinol is the most common cannabinoid that people associate with the cannabis plant. It is well known for its psychoactive effects. It has also been studied in-depth and shown potential to support pain relief, deeper sleep, increased appetite, and anti-inflammation.

THCV: Tetrahydrocannabivarin is considered by many to be the antithesis of THC. After several studies, it has shown little to no psychoactive effect. It also supports decreased appetite, and has shown to help people lose weight and regulate their blood sugar.

THCVA: Tetrahydrocannabivarin acid is the precursor to THCV and as a result most of the research conducted on THCV applies to THCVA. It has shown to have little to no psychoactive effect, suppress the appetite, and regulate blood sugar.

Does THCVA Get You High?

THCVA has shown to interact with the pathways that connect the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body. As a result, most people say they do not feel the traditional euphoric “high” usually associated with THC.

Is THCVA Legal?

The 2018 Farm Bill allows cannabis products containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight to be considered and sold as hemp. THCVA meets this requirement, so it is legal to obtain and consume.
