So, what is CBG? Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of the first cannabinoids to show up on the cannabis plant. CBG is the decarboxylated form of the “mother of all cannabinoids” cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). All other cannabinoids are biosynthesized or originate from CBG. Young cannabis plants must be harvested as they contain the most amount of CBG. Once a plant begins to mature, CBG converts into CBDA, THCA, and CBCA leaving only trace amounts of CBG.

Like cannabidiol (CBD), CBG has no psychoactive effects like Delta 9, Delta 10, or HHC, but it does have phenomenal therapeutic effects. CBG not only bonds and activates the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system, it also has a high affinity for the α2 adrenergic receptors and moderate activity at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors. This unique property gives CBG the ability to support intracellular signaling and regulate key biological functions as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal, and neuroprotectant. CBG is also very promising as a compound to treat diseases that require multidirectional pharmacotherapy, such as cancer.

CannaBuddy has a large selection of CBG products for the discerning cannabis connoisseur.  CBG products for sale online include vapes, gummies, tinctures, and salves. We test all products we provide with a third-party lab to ensure a consistent cannabis experience. Check out the full CBG cannabis collection below.

Learn more about CBG…

What is CBG?

CBG, or Cannabigerol, is one of the naturally occurring cannabinoids within the cannabis plant. It decarboxylates from CBGA, and biosynthesizes into CBDA, THCA, and CBCA which then decarboxylates into CBD, THC, and CBC. This cannabinoid was discovered in 1964, but little research has been conducted on it. Due to its unique properties, CBG has no psychoactive effects, but amazing therapeutic effects. It has shown to reduce inflammation, pain, and obesity.

What are the effects of CBG?

Unlike Delta 9, Delta 8, or HHC, CBG has no psychoactive effects. This is because CBG primarily activates the CB2, α2 adrenergic, and 5-HT1A receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system. As a result, CBG is more widely used for its therapeutic benefits.

What are the potential benefits of CBG?

More and more research on CBG is being conducted every year. Several studies have been conducted, and so far the information collected is not extensive enough to be conclusive. However, the studies have shown that CBG can help reduce or alleviate:

Inflammation: This property has been studied the most. All results point to CBG being a very powerful anti-inflammatory.

Pain: Like many other cannabinoids, CBG has been shown to alleviate pain. According to one study it is even more effective when used with CBD.

Obesity: One study showed that CBG boosts metabolism to shed excess fat. This ability can help reduce weight.

Some Cancers:  CBG has been shown to treat diseases that require multidirectional pharmacotherapy. This ability could help with fighting or reducing some cancers.

Tumor growth: A study showed that CBG has the ability to inhibit a tumor’s ability to move or spread throughout the body.

Anxiety: CBG interacts with the signaling of the endocannabinoid system, and can help to reduce negative signals and relax the mind.

How to use CBG Products?

CBG can be inhaled using a vape cartridge or a disposable vape, or it can be ingested as a gummy or tincture. CBG topicals are applied directly to the skin.

What are the Different Types of CBG Products?

CBG products are available as gummies, topicals, and tinctures. Vapes and disposable vapes are also available.

What is the Difference Between CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBC?

Each of these cannabinoids has been shown to bind differently to the endocannabinoid system and provide different kinds of therapeutic benefits. None of these cannabinoids bind well with the CB1 receptor and therefore have little to no psychoactive effect.

CBD: Cannabidiol is one of the most common cannabinoids on the cannabis plant. It has been shown to help with pain relief, inflammation reduction, anxiety reduction, and appetite stimulation.

CBG: Cannabigerol provides many of the therapeutic benefits of CBD, but has also shown to be effective in fighting cancer cells.

CBN: Cannabinol has the potential to aid in finding deep sleep and staying asleep longer while providing moderate pain relief.

CBC: Cannabichromene has been shown to support anti-inflammation and pain relief, but it also supports acne reduction and works in tandem with other cannabinoids to help reduce cancer growth.

Does CBG Get You High?

CBG will not create any psychoactive effects. So, it doesn’t matter if someone inhales it, eats it, or applies it to their skin, they will not feel any kind of “high.”
