So, what is a dab pen? A dab pen has all the power of a dab rig and can fit into the front pocket of a pair of jeans. Dab pens are designed to heat dabs, or cannabis concentrate, into a vapor which is then inhaled. All dab pens have three main components, a mouthpiece, a battery, and a chamber with a heating element. Various dab pens exist. Some have larger batteries with a longer life while others have a larger chamber and can hold more concentrate. The temperature can be adjusted for the different concentrates. Some enthusiasts prefer the flavor of crumble at a lower temperature and shatter at a higher temperature. Regular cleaning of the dab pen chamber is recommended.
What is a Dab Pen?
A dab pen is used to consume dabs, like shatter, wax, and crumble, discreetly and on the go. Instead of using a large glass dab rig, open flame, and accessories to vape dabs, the dab pen is a battery-powered chamber that can fit in the palm of a hand. It is just as effective for vaporizing concentrates up to 99% as long as the battery is charged properly and the mouthpiece is correctly installed.
How to Use a Dab Pen?
Begin by making sure the battery is charged. Then, open the chamber and place a small amount of dabs into the chamber. Since batter and wax can be sticky a dab tool is best suited for this purpose. Once the dabs are in the chamber, close the chamber and choose the desired temperature. Refer to the manual for the exact directions on adjusting these settings. After choosing the temperature, activate the dab pen by pressing the button and begin inhaling. Some dab pens have no button and are activated by inhaling through the mouthpiece. Remember, unless otherwise stated in the manual, a dab pen should only be used for wax, shatter, crumble, and batter. While some dab pens can heat diamonds and flower, other attachments may be needed.
What is a Dab Pen vs. Cart?
Dab pens and carts, or vape cartridges, both vaporize concentrates, but one vaporizes oil while the other vaporizes wax and shatter. The cart, vape cartridge, and disposable vapes are devices that come pre-filled with cannabis-infused oil. There is a heating element that when activated vaporizes the oil for inhalation. A separate battery must be attached to a cart for it to work. Disposable vapes already come with a battery. By comparison, dab pens must have dabs added to it.  It does not come with any concentrate already in the chamber. Dab pens are also designed for wax, shatter, and crumble. The chamber is not sealed and cannabis oil from a cart will not stay in a dab pen.
What is the Difference Between a Dab Pen and a Wax Pen?
A wax pen is another name used for a dab pen. There is no difference between the two devices.
Why is My Dab Pen Not Working?
There are a couple of reasons why a dab pen may not be working properly. Review each one below and see if the recommended repair works.

Dead Battery: Make sure the battery is charged. If it just came off of the charger and it is still dead, try cleaning the connection between the battery and the charger and try again. If it still isn’t working, make sure the charger is operating correctly. If the battery still isn’t charging, it might need to be replaced.

Dirty Chamber: The chamber clogs from regular use. It is recommended to clean it after each use for optimal vaping. Using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, gently clean the inside of the chamber and the airflow holes. Make sure to clean a cool chamber.  A hot chamber could burn someone.

Clogged Mouthpiece: Just like with the chamber, the mouthpiece can become clogged from regular use. Be sure to clean it with a cotton swab and alcohol as well for optimal performance.

Chamber is Too Full: When too much dab is placed into the chamber, the coil may not work correctly. This could lead to poor vape quality or clog the chamber. Remove as much dab as possible and clean the chamber before adding in a smaller amount.
How Long Does a Dab Pen Stay In Your System?
After consuming concentrated cannabis through a dab pen, a person could test positive for marijuana use for up to 30 days.  Depending on personal factors, like weight, this timeframe could be longer.
