Description
Description:
Root of Happiness Polynesian Gold Kava Extract is a water-soluble, CO2-extracted kava concentrate for anyone who wants the mellow, social feel of kava without the long prep, the gritty texture, or the muddy taste you get from traditional root powder. If you’ve been curious about kava but never wanted to knead a bag of root in a bowl of water for twenty minutes, this is your shortcut.
Here’s the thing that makes it different: it dissolves. Stir an eighth of a teaspoon into juice, tea, coconut water, whatever you’re drinking, and it’s gone. You don’t strain anything, there’s nothing settling at the bottom of the cup, and you’re not chewing on root fibers. That water-solubility is what Root of Happiness built its reputation on when Polynesian Gold came out in 2014 as the first commercially available water-soluble CO2 kava concentrate. It’s been the go-to concentrate in the kava world ever since, and Root of Happiness still calls it their best seller.
Each 1 gram serving is standardized for 30% kavalactones, the naturally occurring compounds in the kava plant (Piper methysticum) that give it its character. Because the extraction uses CO2, no chemical solvents ever touch the product. What you get is kava, concentrated, and nothing else.
Kava has been shared in Pacific Island communities for generations as a calm, grounding, slightly earthy drink for conversation and winding down. It fits right in with the alcohol-free ways to unwind we carry, and it pairs well with the botanical and functional products we stock for the evening crowd. The flavor is classic kava: earthy, a little peppery, with that mild tingle on the tongue kava drinkers recognize right away.
Benefits:
Most kava on the market asks a lot of you before you get to enjoy it. This one asks for a spoon and a drink. That convenience, together with Root of Happiness’s solvent-free extraction and batch testing, is why we picked it over the dozens of kava powders we could have stocked.
- Dissolves fully in water or your favorite beverage, so there’s nothing to strain or knead
- Standardized to 30% kavalactones, which keeps every 1 gram serving consistent
- CO2 extracted, with no chemical solvents used and nothing else added
- Promotes a relaxed, social mood without alcohol
- A 50 gram bag holds 50 servings, which makes it one of the more economical ways to drink kava regularly
- Every batch is tested for quality and purity, and the COA is linked below

What is kava, exactly?
Kava is a plant (Piper methysticum) native to the Pacific Islands, where people have prepared its root as a drink for ceremonies, gatherings, and everyday relaxation for a very long time. The root contains kavalactones, the compounds behind kava’s calm, grounded feel and the tingling you notice on your tongue. Kava is not cannabis. It contains no THC or other cannabinoids. It’s a different plant with its own tradition, and it happens to be one of the more interesting alcohol-free options for a social evening.
What does “water soluble kava concentrate” mean?
Traditional kava is made by working ground root through a strainer bag in water, which takes time and leaves you with a thick, gritty drink. A water-soluble concentrate like Polynesian Gold has already been extracted (with CO2 in this case, rather than chemical solvents), so the kavalactones are ready to go. You stir a small amount into a beverage and it dissolves. Same plant, far less effort, and a much smoother drink.
How is a kava extract different from kava root powder?
Mostly strength and convenience. Kava root powder is the whole dried root. It usually lands somewhere in the single-digit percentage range for kavalactones, and you have to prepare it the traditional way. Polynesian Gold is standardized to 30% kavalactones, which is why a serving is just 1 gram, about an eighth of a teaspoon. You use less, you prep less, and you get the same serving every time. The extract also tastes cleaner and less muddy, though it still has that earthy, peppery kava flavor.
Is CannaBuddy legit?
Yes. CannaBuddy is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with two brick-and-mortar locations, one in Charlotte and one in Matthews, and we ship nationwide. We don’t stock everything. We pick products from partners we actually trust, and we publish third-party lab results right on the product page so you can see what’s in the bag before you buy. The COA for this kava extract is linked below. If kava is new territory for you, browse the full shop to see the other alcohol-free ways to unwind we’ve put together alongside it.
Suggested Use:
- Measure out 1 gram, roughly 1/8 of a level teaspoon.
- Stir it into your favorite beverage until it dissolves. Juice, tea, or coconut water all work well and take the edge off the earthy kava flavor.
- Drink once per day. Do not exceed one serving per day.
- Kava is traditionally enjoyed on an empty or light stomach, so a lot of people take it in the late afternoon or evening before dinner.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Not for use with alcoholic beverages.
- Ask a healthcare professional before use if you have or have had liver problems, frequently use alcoholic beverages, or are taking any medications.
- Not for use by persons under 18 or by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Excessive use, or combining it with products that cause drowsiness, may impair your ability to operate a vehicle or heavy equipment. Do not drive or operate machinery after use.
- Keep the bag sealed in a cool, dry place, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
