Kanna Tinctures put one of the world’s oldest mood-supporting plants into the simplest format we carry. A dropper, a few seconds under the tongue, done. Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a succulent from South Africa, where people chewed it, brewed it, and passed it around for generations before anyone thought to bottle it. What folks describe is a gentle lift: calmer, a little lighter, easier to talk to, and none of the fog you might expect from something that takes the edge off.
Here’s the thing a lot of first-timers don’t realize: kanna isn’t a cannabinoid. There’s no THC in it at all. It works through its own family of plant compounds, called mesembrine alkaloids, and plenty of our regulars reach for it on days when they want to feel settled and clear-headed. It also pairs nicely with CBD if you like to mix and match, which is a big part of why it has a spot on our shelves.
Why tinctures specifically? Speed and control. A sublingual dose tends to show up faster than a capsule, and a marked dropper lets you measure exactly how much you’re taking. Start low, go slow, find your sweet spot. Same advice we give for everything else in the store.
Every kanna tincture we stock comes from a brand we actually trust. We don’t carry a dozen versions of the same thing. We carry the ones that are made well, taste decent, and do what the label says.
What does a kanna tincture feel like?
Most people describe a subtle shift toward calm and a brighter mood. Relaxed, but still present. It isn’t sedating for most folks. Effects vary from person to person, though, so give your first dose a little time before you decide what it does for you.
How do I take it?
Fill the dropper to the marked line, squeeze it under your tongue, and hold it there for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. Holding it sublingually is what lets it kick in quicker. Expect to notice something within 15 to 30 minutes.
How much should I start with?
Begin with the lowest serving listed on the bottle. Kanna has a reputation for being easy to overdo your first time, which usually just means feeling a bit off rather than anything dramatic. Still, there’s no reason to go there. Wait a full hour before you think about taking more.
Does kanna contain THC or CBD?
Pure kanna tinctures contain neither. Some blends on the market add CBD, so check the product description if that matters to you.
Can I combine kanna with cannabinoid products?
Plenty of people do, especially with CBD. If you’re pairing it with THC products, take it slow and see how the two feel together before you make it a routine. And talk with your doctor first if you take any medications.
