So, what is HHC? Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the cannabis sativa plant. Like Delta 8 and Delta 9, HHC interacts with the body’s CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. However, HHC doesn’t antagonize these receptors quite as well. The effect is often described as a clear-headed euphoria that energizes and uplifts. Many enthusiasts say the cerebral effects of HHC are more intense than Delta 6a10a and H4CBD, but only about 80% as strong as Delta 9 and Delta 10. Since HHC is the hydrogenated version of CBD, they share the same anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), analgesic (pain relieving), antiemetic (anti-nausea), orexigenic (appetite stimulant), and neuroprotective properties.

What is HHC?

A chemist named Roger Adams discovered HHC in 1940 by exposing THC to a process called hydrogenation. HHC is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the cannabis sativa plant. But, it is only found in trace amounts. So, to meet market demand, HHC is synthesized by exposing CBD to the hydrogenation process. This process starts by transforming CBD into Delta 9 THC. Then, the double carbon bond on the Delta 9 cyclohexyl ring is removed and replaced with two hydrogen atoms. This creates a hexahydrocannabinol ring. At the end of the process, the molecular weight has changed which makes it more stable. As a result, HHC doesn’t break down as quickly when exposed to UV light and has a longer shelf life.

How is HHC Made?

Crafting HHC begins with large amounts of high-quality CBD flower. This flower is distilled and converted into a Delta 9 isolate powder. After that, the Delta 9 undergoes the process of hydrogenation. This proprietary process requires extensive training on complicated equipment. During the conversion, the double bond is removed from the ninth chain of the cyclohexyl ring and replaced with the two hydrogen atoms. The end product is a dark gold oil that must be refined and distilled before being added to HHC carts or HHC gummies.

HHC vs THC

While they may look similar on a molecular level, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and HHC have a big difference that affects the endocannabinoid system very differently. THC has a double bond on its cyclohexyl ring. HHC had this double bond replaced with two hydrogen atoms. Both cannabinoids bind to the CB1 receptors, but THC bonds with these receptors much better than HHC. Many consumers say the feeling of THC is a strong euphoria with intense relaxation and brain fog. HHC is reported to be uplifting and energizing without the intensity of THC. Even though they differ in effects these cannabinoids share similar therapeutic properties, such as pain relief, anti-inflammation, and reduced nausea.

HHC vs Delta 8

HHC and Delta 8 THC have very similar molecular structures with one difference. Delta 8 THC has a double bond on the eighth carbon chain of its structure ring. Through a process called, hydrogenation, HHC had the double bond removed and replaced with two hydrogen atoms. Many cannabis enthusiasts report that the euphoric effects of Delta 8 are less intense than Delta 9 THC. HHC is reported to have a stronger effect than Delta 8, but not as intense as Delta 9 – about 80%. Consumers prefer HHC before going to the gym or tackling a major project because they feel relaxed and clear-headed. Since both cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system’s CB1 receptors, they have similar therapeutic benefits, including pain relief and reducing anxiety.

What are HHC Gummies?

HHC gummies come in a variety of sweet and sour flavors. During their production, these delicious treats have had HHC isolate added to them. Some gummies use only HHC isolate, but most add other cannabinoids, such as CBD and CBG, to create an entourage effect. All HHC gummies are pre-portioned for easy consumption and consistent effect.

Does HHC Get You High?

After eating HHC gummies, many report a strong clear-headed cerebral euphoria that is uplifting and energizing. Some enthusiasts say the psychoactive effects are stronger than Delta 8 THC but not as intense as Delta 9.

What are The Effects of HHC?

Euphoric and energizing are how most people describe the effects of HHC. These same people are quick to note that HHC is not as intense as Delta 9. Consumers feel uplifted and clear-headed with the ability to focus. These friendlier properties are an appealing option for people seeking a milder relaxation experience than the one offered by Delta 9 or Delta 10.

What are the Benefits of HHC?

Research is still limited on the medical benefits of HHC. However, many researchers feel that because HHC interacts with the endocannabinoid system much like Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC it shares many of the same therapeutic benefits. These include anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), analgesic (pain relieving), antiemetic (anti-nausea), orexigenic (appetite stimulant), and neuroprotective properties
